Tahitian Islands. 118 versions of paradise
The Tahitian Islands are comprised of 118 islands and atolls over 5 archipelagos. Also known as French Polynesia, this chain of islands is scattered across an impressive nautical surface the size of Western Europe. However, the total land mass only adds up to an area slightly larger than the small state of Rhode Island.
Located halfway between California and Australia. Tahiti is in the same timezone as Hawaii. In fact, Tahiti is just as far south of the equator as Hawaii is north. Many people imagine Tahiti to be far away from everything. In reality, Tahiti is a quick 8-hour flight from Los Angeles!
Here you’ll find islands with rugged mountain peaks and vibrant coral reefs. You’ll discover turquoise lagoons, black, pink and white sand beaches along with swaying palm trees. Each of Tahiti’s 118 islands are unique and have something for everyone. From the low-lying atolls of Tikehau and Rangiroa to the high islands of Moorea and Bora Bora, you’ll see that paradise exists in many forms! Visit Huahine -the Garden of Eden, or Tahaa -the Vanilla Island. Or venture off the beaten path to the Marquesas and explore the wild island of Nuku Hiva or Paul Gauguin’s adopted home of Hiva Oa.
